While attending Shaw High School in Columbus, he played outfield for the Raider baseball team. His senior year, Jackson helped lead the Raiders baseball team to the 2001 GHSA AAAA State Championship.
In 2013, Jackson and his wife Erika, launched his nonprofit charity, the “T.H.R.O.W. Foundation”. T.H.R.O.W. stands for Talent & Heroes: Remember Opportunities Work. Edwin and Erika created this foundation to continue raising awareness of baseball with young AA males with a special focus on assisting children of either deployed, active duty parents or parents that have been injured or killed in the Line of Duty. Edwin’s father retired from the military and both of Erika’s parents were active in the military. Erika, herself, served in the military, so it only fit that both Edwin and Erika decided to stand for a cause that is near and dear to them both.
